Geometrical parameter study of adhesively-bonded T-joints by cohesive models

A wide variety of adhesive joints architectures is available, offering several options to the designers, although most common are single-lap (SLJ), double-lap joints, and scarf joints. Additional designs, less used studied stepped-lap, T-joints tubular find application in different types industry, such as aircraft bond stiffeners skin cars between B-pillar rocker. This work numerically evaluates performance structural Araldite® 2015 an aluminum T-joint, after validation with experimental results. cohesive zone modelling (CZM) numerical study carried out capture behavior geometrical configurations when subjected peel loads. The includes a parametric study, considering maximum load (Pm) dissipated energy at failure (U) prediction, four parameters: flat adherend thickness (a), T-element (t), overlap length (l) radius (r). significant effect on Pm was found for tested parameters, CZM method revealed be precious studying T precision accuracy.
